IL says Temido can’t ignore twins case and talks about ‘tough day’ for PS

The President of IL this Thursday said that Marta Temido, as Minister of Health, cannot ignore the case of the twins and said that it was a “difficult day” for the PS.

Speaking to journalists in the Assembly of the Republic about the constitution as the defendant of the former Minister of Health António Lacerda Sales, Rui Rocha said that the socialist candidate of the Europeans, Marta Temido, cannot ignore this case, since she is responsible for “a ministry in which ultimately had place such favored procedures.”

“We want to understand whether this kind of relationship and acts of favoritism that are being discussed here actually took place only in this case, under whose influence, whether this was a recurring practice in the ministry and, obviously, the head of the ministry cannot to be outside of this political assessment,” he criticized.

Rui Rocha said he was not concerned about the proximity of these steps to the date of the next elections, saying he would be concerned if, on the contrary, “there were necessary legal steps that were not taken because we are in a certain period.”

Regarding the conviction of the former Minister of Economy Manuel Pinho and the former President of Banco Espirito Santo (BES) Ricardo Salgado, Rui Rocha stressed that this is another moment of “the work of justice” and that it is necessary to think about how to speed up these processes so that what does not exist “ justice that works for some and comes too late or too late for others.”

The Liberal leader also took aim at the PS, saying it was a “difficult day” for the Socialists, who had a “former secretary of state accused and searched” as well as former minister Ricardo Salgado, who he claimed had “the complacency of socialist political power” .

“This is a difficult day for the Socialist Party, but this is what it is, this is life, and these things are avoided, they are not regretted,” he concluded.
