According to the regional command of the Public Security Police (PSP), the 45-year-old man was arrested on Monday at a crime scene near the Ponta Delgada judicial court on the island of São Miguel after several investigations.

At the time, the man was “wandering on public roads while in possession of two items that could be classified as weapons, namely an extendable baton and a bow with several metal arrows,” as PSP describes in a press release, revealing that the suspect had “several convictions and convictions.”

“Given his criminal history, there were serious suspicions of a change in public order, as well as the safety and social well-being of other citizens,” explains the PSP.

Also, according to PSP, the arrest in the middle of a public street was made “quickly and effectively” in a “coordinated and discreet manner without compromising public safety.”
