The Liberal Initiative candidate for Sunday’s European elections said this Friday that he is ready to take over as vice-president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).
“It was common knowledge that I have the contacts to take over as vice-president of the European Liberal Party and, after some initial resistance, I think I am ready,” João Cotrim de Figueiredo told reporters at the end of a street rally in Lisbon. where he was accompanied by party chairman Rui Rocha.
The head of the IL list justified his availability by the fact that it is necessary, after the change in the political situation in Portugal, to change the European panorama, which should provide conditions for the growth of Portugal in the future.
“We are therefore going to reform the European Liberal Party and reform the policies and priorities of European politics to shape Portugal,” he stressed.
On the last day of the election campaign, Cotrim de Figueiredo believed that positions were not held for pleasure.
And he added: “We never look for positions. It’s because of what you can do with them.”
