The official document is enough to vote for mobility

Any official document with a current photograph, full name and civil identification number or date of birth can be used to vote in the current European elections, that is, at any table in Portugal or abroad, regardless of where the voter is registered.

Examples would be a passport, driver’s license or ID card, but a digital citizen card application can also be used. In the case of foreign citizens, official documents issued by the authorities of the country of origin are accepted.

Turnout at polling stations will be measured in real time and will be available on the voter portal (www.portaldoeleitor.pt), allowing you to avoid places with longer waiting times. For the first time, voter lists are dematerialized rather than on paper, and IT staff are being ensured at various polling stations to respond to any problems.

Voting abroad, through the consular network, began yesterday and continues today. A list of voting places abroad is available on the website of the National Electoral Commission.

Polling stations open today at 8:00 and close at 19:00, including abroad, taking into account local time. On the American continent they close from 12:00 to 16:00 local time, depending on the voting location.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 225,039 voters had already voted last Sunday, almost 90% of the total number registered for early voting. Among them are the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Prime Minister, Luis Montenegro. Anyone who registered but did not vote can do so today.

The Portuguese elect 21 of the 720 members of the European Parliament.
