The Judicial Police (PJ) of Aveiro arrested a 42-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting two daughters, aged 13 and 14, the criminal police authority said on Tuesday.
In its statement, the SP states that the suspect was detained pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by the Department of Investigation and Criminal Affairs of Aveiro.
According to the SP, sexual abuse occurred several times when the detainee temporarily lived with his daughters, as he did not have custody of them.
“The criminal acts took place in the municipality of Agueda when the suspect took advantage of the moments when he was alone with the girls to subject them to various sexual acts,” the same note reads.
According to investigators, the man “took advantage of the modesty of the home and took advantage of his dominance over the minors, which arose as a result of the parental authority inherent in the family relationship between them.”
The detainee was present at the first judicial interrogation; a preventive measure was applied to him in the form of preventive detention and a ban on communication with minors.
