Parties with seats in parliament spent nearly eight million euros on the campaign for the January 2022 legislative elections, with it announced this Thursday that the PS had recorded the highest spending at about 3.3 million.

According to a campaign report released this Thursday by the Office of Political Accounts and Finance (ECFP), parties with seats in parliament spent €7,915,914 on the campaign for legislative elections.

The descending order of spending corresponds to the number of votes received at the polling stations, where the PS leads, followed by the PSD, Chega, IL, BE, CDU, PAN and Livre.

According to these reports, PS was the party that mobilized the most funds, spending €3,388,778, of which the majority (€1,071,362) was used for rallies, shows and caravans, and then €686,395 was spent on campaign development. communication agencies. and market research.

PS’s balance was slightly negative as, according to the reports submitted to the ECFP, the party received revenues of around 3,385,040 euros, of which 2,671,451 came from state subsidies.

The SDP came second in the legislative election campaign, spending €1,858,865. Like the PS, the largest share of funds mobilized by the PSD was allocated to the organization of rallies, shows and caravans, with €565,945 allocated, followed by advertising, print and digital communication (€480,388).

PSD’s balance sheet was also somewhat negative as it received €1,854,507 in revenue, of which €1,844,770 came from government subsidies.

In third place is Chega with an expenditure of €615,390, of which €178,514 was spent on structures, posters and screens and €115,287 on “gifts and other offers”. The party’s balance sheet was positive, with revenues of €627,637.

The Liberal Initiative (IL) was the fourth largest spending party, with €599,002 spent, of which €153,988 was allocated to structures, posters and screens and €128,483 to rallies, shows and caravans.

IL’s balance sheet was zero, as income exactly matched expenses: 599,002 euros.

Close to IL and also registered with a zero balance, Bloco de Esquerda had an expenditure of €590,428, most of which (€139,731) was allocated to structures, posters and screens, followed by advertising, printing and digital communication (€139 381 euros).

Also, about 500 thousand euros, the Unitary Democratic Coalition (CDU), which is part of the PKP, registered expenses in the amount of 551,771 euros, of which more than half (269,476) falls on administrative and operating expenses, and then 142,499 euros on advertising. , printed communication and digital.

Like IL and BE, CDU also had income equivalent to expenses: €551,771.

For parties that managed to elect one MP, PAN recorded an expenditure of 252,030 euros with an equivalent income. Livre spent 59,650 euros on the campaign, also recording a zero negative balance.
