Portugal will make their Euro 2024 debut on Tuesday against the Czech Republic in Leipzig, Germany, on the day that Group F begins and the first round of the group stage ends.

The national team will take to the field at 21:00 local time (20:00 Lisbon time) at the Red Bull Arena. This will be the fourth match with the Czechs at the final stage of the European Championship.

In 1996 in England, in the quarterfinals with the mythical hat of Karel Poborsky in front of Vitor Bahia, the Czech Republic beat the Kinas team with a score of 1:0 and advanced, but Portugal redeemed itself in the next two matches.

At the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland in 2008, the team won with a score of 3:1, still in the group stage, and repeated the triumph of 2012 in Ukraine and Poland in the quarters with a score of 1:0.

Cristiano Ronaldo won both victories and today is sure to become the first player to take part in six final stages of the European Championship, which has not failed since 2004.

If he is also used, Pepe will make five appearances in the final stages of the competition and, at 41, will become the oldest player to take part in the European Championship, breaking the record of 40 years and 86 days held by the former player. Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly.

In Leipzig, Portugal will try to secure their fourth win in their first European matches, following a 3-0 win against Hungary at Euro 2020, a 2-0 win over Turkey at Euro 2008 and a 3-2 win over England at Euro 2008. 2000.

This is Portugal’s ninth participation in the European Championship, eighth in a row.

The debut match for Portugal will be officiated by Italian Marco Guida.

At Euro 2024, in addition to the Czechs, Portugal will also meet Turkey (June 22, in Dortmund) and Georgia (June 26, in Gelsenkirchen) in Group F.

In the other game of the day, Turkey and Georgia will face each other at 18:00 local time (17:00 Lisbon time) at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.
