On Friday, Russia launched a “massive” missile strike that mostly hit key energy production and storage sites in Ukraine, the Ukrainian army said.
The Kyiv military indicates that Russia fired “six Kalibr cruise missiles and at least 35 S-300 surface-to-air missiles” at targets located in Kharkiv and Zaporozhye.
Russian forces also launched “seven Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles” at strategic locations in Ukraine.
Anatoly Kurtiyev, secretary of the Zaporizhia City Council, said the city was hit 17 times within an hour, in what he said was the heaviest period of shelling since the start of a full-scale invasion in February 2022.
Explosions were heard in several districts of the region, including Zaporozhye and Vinnytsia, and in the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region, local authorities warned of a drone strike, official sources said, citing Ukrainian news agencies.
