Far right leads in polls in next parliamentary elections in France

Public polls at the end of this week all point in the same direction: the far right is winning France’s next legislative elections with more than 30%, ahead of a coalition of left-wing parties, the New Popular Front, and President Macron’s centrists.

According to several public opinion surveys, the National Union will win between 33% and 35% of the vote, up 15% from the 2022 legislative elections. The new National Front will have between 26% and 29%, and the coalition will unite the party. Macron between 20% and 22%. The French legislative elections will be held in two rounds: June 30 and July 7.

To win the first round, the candidate with the most votes must receive 50% of the votes. If this does not happen, the candidates who receive the equivalent of more than 12.5% of those registered, or the two candidates with the most votes, advance to the second round. These elections followed the victory of the far right, led by Jordan Bardella, in the European elections. If the polls are confirmed, Bardella, who has asked for an absolute majority, could become the next prime minister, coexisting with Emmanuel Macron until the 2027 presidential elections.
