The next Council of Ministers will adopt measures dedicated to the housing sector, including support for paying rent to those who have lost income.
The promise of this legislative package, including the February 16 approval date, was put forward by Prime Minister António Costa in an interview with RTP at the end of January. Now, Expresso claims the executive will begin “income support” for families that have been hit by an imbalance between income and house payments. Added to this, according to the weekly, is the abolition of golden visas and the repurposing of locally occupied houses into rental houses with the help of tax breaks.
SDP leader Luis Montenegro said this Friday that two days before government ratification, the party will propose housing measures.
According to the Mais Transparência portal, the Ministry of Housing has not yet disbursed 97% of the community funds for housing.
