On Tuesday, the city council of Maia (Porto) denied any illegality in the process of selling at a public auction the land that will be used for the construction of the FC Porto academy, and classified any information in this regard as “false.”
“The Municipal Council of Maia categorically denies that in connection with the public auction of the land intended for the sports park known as Academia da Maia, there were any irregularities or even irregularities,” said a statement from the municipality sent to the editorial office.
The government, led by António Silva Tiago (PSD/CDS-PP), therefore states that there was an “attempt to poison public opinion by spreading false information with unclear objectives” and stresses that it is subject to “strict legal criteria”.
