PAN proposes to hear in parliament the candidacy of the next prosecutor general of the republic

PAN representative Inés Souza Real proposed this Wednesday that the next Attorney General of the Republic should be heard in Parliament so that he can present to the deputies his program in the fields of justice and public service.

During the debate with the Prime Minister in the Assembly of the Republic, Ines Sousa Real asked Luis Montenegro “whether he is ready, with the next appointment of the Attorney General of the Republic, to lead this Assembly not only to this appointment, to listen to the policies of other forces, and also to the fact that the new prosecutor will first present its program in the field of Justice and the Ministry of State.”

PAN, like BE, has already submitted a request to hear in parliament the current Prosecutor General of the Republic, Lucilia Gago, whose term ends in October.

Luis Montenegro simply replied that the government would follow “what is defined in the Constitution and the law, and now in “time”, and this is not so, it is improvised.”

Ines Sousa Real criticized the minority leader of the PSD/CDU-PP for having so far presented only six diplomas to the Assembly of the Republic, while Luis Montenegro responded that during the same period the previous Socialist leader presented three “and never saw the PAN.” concerned about this.”

The chief executive stressed that the government will turn to parliament “whenever necessary, and even when not necessary” when it deems it appropriate.

“But the government governs itself. The government has the capacity for political initiative, it must manage everything related to public services, administration, and naturally has its own legislative capacity. Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, it seems that We do not strive to always be in contact with the government, we are happy about it, but let us also govern, we must make our choices according to our spirit and our competence,” he urged.

The only PAN deputy also asked the Prime Minister about what is being done to prepare for the fire season.

Luis Montenegro listed some of the actions he had taken and expressed the hope that “the positive evolution that has taken place in recent years can be maintained”, ensuring that “whatever is in the hands of the public services, they will certainly be fully committed to it.”
