Diogo Sorrinho, the killer of businessman Joaquim Braz, was deeply in debt. As well as failing to pay rent on the sweet shop where he stabbed the victim, the 26-year-old also had unpaid electricity bills. The establishment had its electricity cut off due to non-payment and the situation was even reported to the landlord, who ultimately died after confronting Diogo Zorrinho with his debts and threatening him with an eviction order.
The bakery has been closed since the beginning of the week due to a power outage.
This Sunday, all traces identifying the baked goods were removed. The victim’s family member was collecting tables and chairs from the terrace. The objects are now located inside the facility, which authorities have not sealed.
The 26-year-old young man who killed his landlord was preparing to dispose of the body, only the quick actions of the judicial police prevented Diogo Zorrinho from dismembering the corpse and distributing it to several places, making it difficult to locate.
The victim was found lifeless in the storeroom of the candy store. The door was locked and firefighters had to break it down.
The floor had been thoroughly cleaned and there were several garbage bags scattered around that must have been used to hide the body.
According to CMNearby merchants did not notice any strange movement or noise from inside and were shocked by the news of the murder.
Joaquim Braz owned about a dozen commercial spaces on the crime-ridden Avenida de Liberdade in Albufeira.
