Workers forcibly dismissed after gas leak in Loures building

Two workers from a gas repair company were forcibly evicted from a building in Prior Velho, Loures this afternoon after causing a gas leak from the building’s internal ductwork and then refusing to leave when help arrived to fix the problem.

The alarm was received at 2:20 p.m. A strong smell of gas in the house at number 6 on Teófilo Braga Street in Prior Velho led to the call to the Sacavem and PSP firefighters.

A source in the Civil Defense reported this morning Post Six residents had to be evacuated from the building. “Even after being informed of a gas leak, two workers refused to leave the premises. Firefighters and PSP asked them to leave,” the same source added.

PSP is working to identify the two men while firefighters and gas company technicians try to stop the leak.
