The Prime Minister announced that he would travel to Figueira da Foz this Wednesday to learn about the search operations that are still ongoing and to express solidarity with the families of the shipwreck victims.
At the end of his speech at the conference of the European People’s Party (EPP), held in Cascais, Luis Montenegro apologised for not continuing to follow its work.

For this reason, he explained, he will again travel “to the place where the tragedy occurred” to learn about the search and rescue operations that are still ongoing, and to personally express his solidarity with the families.
Montenegro will travel to Figueira da Foz, the exact location will be confirmed later.
Three of the 17 people on the sunken ship are still missing, three dead and 11 rescued alive, the maritime police of Figueira da Foz, Coimbra district, said.
The warning about the listing of the fishing vessel Virgem Dolorosa was transmitted at 4:33 to the local command of the marine police of Nazaré.
Servence Costa explained that the sunken vessel was “located and visible” and search and rescue operations were continuing with the help of an air force helicopter, a drone from Nazaré and a team of divers.
According to the President of the Marinha Grande Chamber, Aurélio Ferreira, the Virgem Dolorosa is a 24-by-six-metre trawler with a port in Figueira da Foz.
Most of the people on the ship were from Figueira da Foz (Leiros), with two Indonesian crew members rescued alive.
