The fishing boat that burned down Thursday morning off Costa da Caparica may have been used by drug trafficking networks, according to CM As it turned out, no one was found on the boat, but several jets of fuel were found nearby. In the afternoon, marine police officers made a dive to look for signs.
The investigation by the judicial police is still in its early stages, but it is believed that the vessel was damaged and abandoned. The fire was set deliberately to cover any traces. Moreover, it actually had a false registration.
The alarm was raised at around 11am and led to the mobilisation of two rescue stations in Cascais and Lisbon, which fought the flames and searched for the crew, but found no one.
