Parents of a school in Sintra are unhappy with lessons in a dilapidated container

Guardians of Uressa Primary School in Sintra are concerned about the state of degradation of the container that houses eight classrooms. ABOUT cm had access to images showing the condition of the bathrooms and corridors, where about 150 children are engaged.

The metal monoblock was conditionally installed in an educational institution 15 years ago.

The school and guardians sent a document to the Sintra City Council (CMS) stating the condition of the container. Parents complain of cracked ceilings and floors, rust, rats and highlight “obvious health and safety risks” to those who work and go to school.

“Rodents circulate in this suspended ceiling space,” the document says.

TO cmthe mother of the student emphasizes the lack of conditions: “In the container where my daughter studies, the bathrooms are in poor condition. There are rats on the ceiling and under the container. Something needs to be done.”

The Municipality of Sintra (CMS) ensures that the replacement of classrooms in EB1 Uressa is included in the investment plan of the Municipality of Sintra.

“This intervention is part of an investment plan for Sintra schools that has already enabled the retraining of more than 120 schools with an investment of over 44 million euros and enrollment of 30,000 students. The Municipality of Sintra has invested more than 530,000 euros in conservation works, replacement of window frames, energy rehabilitation and re-qualification of public areas,” explains CMS.
