I thought I was having an intimate encounter with a woman on social media, but in reality it was her partner on the other side of the monitor. On the night of November 12, 2023, a 28-year-old man went to an apartment in Marco de Canaveses, where instead of a woman, he found three men who beat, stabbed and robbed him. One of the perpetrators, 49, was arrested by the Porto police. He was arrested for several crimes and was a member of a gang known as “Peixeiros”, which spread terror in the Vale do Sousa area. Two of the accomplices are in jail on other charges.
The couple and the victim frequented the same cafe. The boyfriend noticed that there was a closeness between them and began to follow the woman’s social media. So he arranged a meeting, pretending to be a companion, and waited with his two accomplices. As the victim was about to enter the house, he was punched and kicked. The suspects stabbed him in the back, slashed his car tires, and took him to an ATM, where they forced him to withdraw money. The victim took advantage of the trio’s distraction, managed to escape, and sought help.
Two of the attackers are in custody for other crimes. One is in jail for robbery. The other, a young man, is in jail for attempted murder and robbery. The third, who was just detained returning from France, was released after being forced to turn himself in to the authorities.
