A 23-year-old woman died in a violent collision between a van and a truck on Tuesday on the EN 109 road in the direction of Figueira da Foz – Quiaios.
The driver of the car was arrested and an ambulance crew pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of the heavy vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to Figueira da Foz Hospital.
The authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. Firefighters from Figueira da Foz, GNR and INEM, as well as 19 operational personnel were at the scene.
The violent collision spilled oil and fuel onto the road, causing delays in the recovery of vehicles from the scene. The truck was transporting barrels of resin to a local plant.
