The finance minister assured on Wednesday that there were no disputes with the Bank of Portugal regarding state guarantees for the purchase of first homes by young people, adding that the government was finalizing a regulation regulating the measure.
“We are finalising the regulation,” said Finance Minister Miranda Sarmento, assuring that “there is no dispute with Banco de Portugal” and that banking supervision is involved in the process, with technical meetings already taking place between the Finance Ministry and Banco de Portugal.
Speaking at the Budget, Finance and Public Administration Commission (Cofap) this Wednesday, Miranda Sarmento said that “the decision on how regulation is carried out is up to the government,” but the process takes place “always after consultation with the regulator.”
