Porto left Monday with 29 players for a 10-day pre-season camp in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Austria, where they will play three more games with a squad that still lacks six internationals.
In addition to the 28 players present at the start of the work, coach Vitor Bruno called up young Dinis Rodrigues, a right-back from the B team, from the II League, who was called up last week to fill the absence of Martim Fernandes due to injury.
Ivan Marcano and Zaidu also feature in the clinical report but have travelled to south-eastern Austria, while Portugal’s Diogo Costa and Francisco Conceicao, Brazil’s Wendell, Pepe and Evanilson and Canada’s Stephen Eustaquio remain on holiday after playing for their teams at the European Championship and Copa America.
The Dragons regrouped on Monday for another morning session at the PortoGaia Sports Training Centre in Olival before heading to Bad Tatzmannsdorf in the afternoon.
Porto will face Al Arabi from Qatar on Tuesday at 19:00 local time (18:00 in Lisbon) at the Informstadion in Oberwart, Austria, in their first open-door preparatory match after beating Olival and Sanjoanense (4-0) from Ligue 3, Desportivo de Chaves (4-0) relegated to the II League and Nacional (4-1) promoted to the main division.
Austria Wien on Friday and Austrian champions Sturm Graz on July 23 are the other opponents for the Dragons, who have not spent time abroad in pre-season training since 2016/17 and return to Porto the following day for their latest duel.
The team, coached by Vítor Bruno, will make its official debut in the 2024/25 season on August 3 in Aveiro with the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira match against champions Sporting.
