On Monday, a 17-year-old threw several explosive devices at the Antonio Spresser High School in Montemor, about 121 kilometers from the Brazilian city of São Paulo, after a vain attempt to break into a building filled with several more explosives. . The boy, a former student of the school, was dressed in all black, and on one arm was a swastika, a Nazi symbol from the time of German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Apparently, the intention of the teenager was to invade the school and arrange a massacre, as he was wielded with an ax and carried two backpacks stuffed with bottles of gasoline and nails, which, when a flammable liquid exploded, flew in all directions with force, and could seriously injure and even kill anyone nearby. The boy persistently tried to enter the school, apparently to detonate the Molotov cocktails and pipe bombs he carried in classrooms full of students, only to find the barred gate closed by the headmaster, a precaution common to prevent entry by strangers.
Annoyed at not being able to get inside, the assailant threw at least four explosives outside and into the school through a window, damaging decorative vases and one of the bathrooms, fortunately empty as there were about 300 students in the classroom at the time.
No one was hurt, but there was widespread panic among students, teachers, and school staff, and the police were called. The assailant was detained a few streets ahead, and, according to the arresting officers, he seemed to be absent, as if he was in a trance. Seeing the approach of the police, the young man froze on the spot, did not resist and did not say a word, continuing to be in absolute silence in the police station.
In the family car that the boy drove to school, the police found bottles of gasoline, indicating that he was ready to make more explosives. A dummy rifle and a notepad with Nazi symbols were found in the young man’s house, in which the young man expressed his intention to attack the school, without giving any reason.
