One of the households displaced by the Muraria fire in Lisbon has changed rooms and the other remains in a sublet room, but no final housing solutions are known for the two families supported by Misericórdia de Lisboa.
A Santa Casa source told Lusa on Monday that the four isolated people who also needed temporary housing after the February 4 fire in a building in Muraria in Lisbon also moved to another guesthouse.
However, Santa Casa da Misericórdia does not provide any information about possible housing alternatives being considered for the ten people (two three-person households and four isolated people) she supports because they have been displaced.
So far, only one in three displaced households in need of emergency support managed to become self-reliant last week by finding an alternative place of residence at their own expense, according to Santa Casa, but which one was not specified.
On the night of February 4, a fire in a building on Rua do Terreirinho in Muraria, Lisbon, killed two people, one of whom is a 14-year-old boy, both Indians, and the other 14 victims in total, all already discharged from hospitals.
Two days later, the municipal civil protection service checked the state of preservation of the building and concluded that the structural part of the building was not damaged, but did not meet the living conditions.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and is being investigated by the judicial police.
