The outgoing president of INEM on Wednesday accused the Health Ministry of negligence in the award of the contract for the helicopter ambulance service, saying it never helped the institute resolve the issue.
“There has been a flagrant, I would say negligent, breach of duty to oversee a public institution, since we have repeatedly asked for instructions from the guardianship authorities on this matter, which have never reached us, to help the institution solve the problem,” said Luis Meira, who was heard by the Health Commission at the request of the PS board.
The INEM board of directors, chaired by Luís Meira, submitted its resignation to the Minister of Health on July 1, citing “abuse of trust in the current trusteeship,” a request that was accepted by Ana Paula Martins.
