US President Joe Biden has cancelled his campaign speech in Las Vegas after testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, Reuters reports. The American leader took the test after experiencing symptoms including a runny nose, cough and general malaise.
The president’s motorcade was heading to the Las Vegas airport to record a radio interview in Las Vegas.
Biden had just greeted dozens of people at a Mexican restaurant before heading behind closed doors for an interview. When Biden arrived late to the start of the UnidosUS event, the organizer announced that he had tested positive.
The president will now remain in isolation. “He has been vaccinated, has received a booster shot, and has mild symptoms,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.
