Students have already taken 35,270 tests in the second stage of national exams.

According to data from the National Examinations Jury (JNE), published this Saturday by the Ministry of Education, more than 35,200 tests related to the second stage of the national examinations were carried out on Thursday and Friday, for which 38,613 registrations were made.

According to JNE data released by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, in the first week of the second phase of national final exams, 15,200 exams were held on Thursday and 20,070 on Friday.

There were 16,418 students registered for Thursday’s exams, while there were 22,195 registrations for Friday’s exams.

The second phase of exams began on Thursday: 11,918 students (out of 12,767 registered students) passed the Physics and Chemistry A test, 118 (out of 134) the Portuguese Literature A test, 3,163 (out of 3,516 registered students) the Economics A test and one single student entered, passing the Latin A test.

Friday was the day of the final examinations for the various Portuguese language regulations (concerning the examinations of Portuguese as a first language, Portuguese for students with educational needs, Portuguese as a second language and Portuguese as a second language), with a total of 17,384 exams entered and 15,651 students attending.

On this day, exams were also held in Geography A, in which 3,363 students took part (285 were absent), and in History of Culture and Arts, in which 1,050 students took part (not 110).

The Mathematics A, Mathematics B, Applied Mathematics in Social Sciences and Philosophy exams will also take place on Monday, which falls under the second stage.

On Tuesday there will be exams in History A and B, Descriptive Geometry A, Drawing A and Biology and Geology.

The second stage of national exams ends on Wednesday with tests in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Chinese.

According to the National Examinations Jury, 291,793 people registered for the first phase of the national examinations and 236,060 tests were conducted.

The results of the first stage were published on Monday, and the scores increased in 13 of the 25 subjects to be examined. Only in biology and geology (9.9 points), the most popular test, the average score was negative.

Compared to last year, the average score also decreased in Portuguese (from 12.5 to 11.1 points), but students’ results improved in Physics and Chemistry (11.6 points) and Mathematics A (12.2 points).

This year, Year 12 students still benefited from the exceptional rules put in place following the Covid-19 pandemic, but Year 11 students had to take the required tests to pass and complete their subjects.
