A 25-year-old man died from an electric shock early this Sunday morning while carrying out maintenance work at the Sogrape winery in Mateus, Vila Real.
The man, a Brazilian immigrant, was apparently painting the façade of one of the company’s buildings when he was electrocuted by a medium-voltage cable. The electrical discharge caused his death.
Firefighters from Cruz Verde de Vila Real, Cruz Branca and An ambulance and resuscitation vehicle that confirmed death at the scene.
Work can only be carried out after the ERedes team has disconnected the electricity so that work can be carried out safely.
The PSP has formed an investigation team to look into the cause and possible liability.
