The PS secretary general said on Tuesday that if the government does not consider cutting the IRS this year it will throw a “tantrum”, saying that was the promise of leader Luis Montenegro.
“If there is no reduction in the IRS in 2024, I can only conclude that it is hysterical, because the government has said from the beginning that it wants the reduction in the IRS to be reflected in 2024. This cannot be simply because the version is not quite correct. the one that the government wanted not to be applied in 2024,” Pedro Nuno Santos responded to journalists after it became known that the President of the Republic had made public opposition diplomas such as the reduction in the IRS.
According to the PS leader, “the government has no reason not to take a decision to reduce the IRS in 2024.”
“It was really a commitment, a promise, a statement made by the government when it came out with the IRS cuts. There is no reason why there shouldn’t be an adjustment to the income tax tables,” he argued.
The Prime Minister said on Tuesday that he respects the decision of the President of the Republic to publish several diplomas approved by the opposition and asked the PS and Chega to clarify the timing of the application of the diploma that reduces IRS rates.
