According to civil protection, about 50 employees were involved in the fire that broke out in a plastic warehouse near the company in Guidões, Trofa municipality, Porto, at 7am on Wednesday. Two firefighters and a company employee were injured.
The fire broke out near the Metais Jaime Dias plant, a factory that handles scrap metal. The site of the fire is known to be a pile of debris weighing about a ton of kilograms, which had been stacked and compacted.
A source from the Porto metropolitan sub-regional command said the fire alarm was raised at 2:56 a.m. and that 55 firefighters were on the scene by 9 a.m.

At 9am there were more than a dozen vehicles on site to support 55 people from Trofa, Povoa de Varzim, Leixões, Moreira da Maia, Tirsenses, Vila do Conde, Matosinhos Lisa, Ermesinde, Pedrusos, Famalicios, Freamunde, Paços de Ferreira and Famalicao.
