Portuguese descendant shot dead in South Africa a month after surviving eight bullets

A Portuguese descendant was shot dead at home on Saturday in the house where he lived in the suburb of Buccleuch in Johannesburg, South Africa. Pedro Manuel Ponte, a butcher’s shop owner in the capital’s suburb of the major city, survived for about a month before being shot eight times.

The victim is from the island of Madeira. According to local sources, the ambush involving eight shots, which took place about a month ago, occurred when the businessman was driving his wife’s car to the garage of the property where the family lived.

The Portuguese descendant was in serious condition, but after several days of hospitalization he managed to survive.

With the murders complete, South African police are now trying to establish the motives behind the two crimes and arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators.
