The Commission for Public Administration, Spatial Planning and Local Self-Government approved on Tuesday Chega’s request for an urgent hearing by Deputy Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ana Catarina Mendez on World Youth Day (WYD).
According to the latest estimates from the Catholic Church, the government and the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures, hosting the WYD in Lisbon in August will cost at least 155 million euros.
What is considered the biggest event of the Catholic Church will take place from 1 to 6 August in Lisbon, at the decision of Pope Francis, who is attending the meeting. The main ceremonies will take place in the Tagus Park, north of the Parque das Nacoins, on the banks of the river, in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures.
Investment forecasts became known as early as 2022, and at the end of the year a memorandum of understanding was signed with the definition of relevant responsibilities.
