A strike by CP workers led to the suppression of 61 trains before 08:00.

As on Wednesday, CP has suspended 61 trains out of 252 scheduled from 00:00 to 08:00 this Thursday due to company strikes, according to a statement sent by the company to Lusa.

Of the 252 trains scheduled from 00:00 to 08:00, 191 departed and 61 canceled (24.2%).

CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that 72 regional and inter-regional trains were scheduled, 29 of which were delayed and 43 were sent.

In terms of urban areas, 115 were planned in Lisbon, 24 suppressed and 91 implemented.

According to the company, in the urban areas of Porto, 53 were planned for this period, 45 were carried out and 8 were suppressed.

All scheduled long-distance trains (12) have been dispatched as of Wednesday.

CP has on its “website” a warning for passengers about traffic violations until February 21st.

“Due to the strikes organized by the National Union of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ), the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) and the Trade Union of Traveling Commercial Railway Inspection (SFRCI), the movement of trains across the country from 00:00 on February 8 2023 until 24:00 February 21, 2023.

SMAQ’s Antonio Dominguez told Lusa last week that the reason for the strike was the company’s lack of response to wage increases.

On Wednesday, the Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) and the National Union of Railway Workers (Sinafe) announced a strike at CP – Comboios de Portugal, which will take place on February 27 and March 1.

“Unions UGT, Sinafe and Sintap are on strike due to the termination of negotiations in CP and IP,” they said in a communiqué.

Thus, the CP workers will strike for the provision of “any work under the following conditions” on February 27 and March 1 “during the entire working period.”

On Tuesday, these unions announced a strike at the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) on 28 February and 2 March.

It is a “stalemate” in wage negotiations with IP and CP management, the unions said in a statement.
