Portuguese cinema will be represented in the cultural distribution in September with the premiere of five national productions. The first to hit cinemas on September 5 is Dulcinea by director Artur Serra Araujo. The film, starring Alba Baptista, tells the story of a pianist and a bass player who are faced with a mystery: they accidentally composed the same piece of music. On the 19th, The Grand Tour by Miguel Gomes will premiere, for which he won the award for best director at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival.
Starring Crista Alfayate and Gonzalo Waddington, Margarida Gil’s Maos sans Fog, starring Carolina Campanela and Rita Durao, will be presented to the public on October 3, having its world premiere at the last Berlin Film Festival.
A week later, on October 10, the premiere of Rita Nunes’s “The Best of All Worlds” will take place, a film that confronts the viewer with the enormous possibility that an earthquake could hit Lisbon as early as 2027 (Sara Barros Leitão and Miguel Nunes are the protagonists of the drama).
Finally, on October 24, cinemas will see The English Notes, a film written by Angolan writer José Eduardo Agualusa and starring, among others, David Caracol, Miguel Borges, Joana Ribeiro, Afonso Pimentel and Maya Booth.
