The government approves the abolition of the non-transferability of local accommodation licences. The Council of Ministers also abolishes the expiration of licences after five years.

This Thursday, the government approved further changes to the local accommodation (AL) regulations, eliminating the non-transferability of licences defined by the previous executive director, now after the adoption of a new decree-law for consultation by the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities.

The statement was made by the Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, at a press conference following the Council of Ministers meeting in Lisbon, where the government official confirmed the initiative of the PSD/SDS-PP leadership to “correct some of the mistakes” of the socialist executive.

“We approved an earlier version of the diploma, which eliminates some gross errors, such as the non-transferability of licenses, the expiration of the term after five years, allowing, on the other hand, not to introduce a situation of market deregulation, and after a long dialogue with several entities, including industry agents, the logic of decentralization,” he said.
