Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) said on Tuesday he hopes to regain points at the Austrian MotoGP Grand Prix, the 11th round of the season, after retiring due to a crash in the previous race in Britain.
“At Silverstone we believed we would have a more competitive bike on Sunday than we had in the sprint race and therefore we believed a good result in the main race was possible,” the Portuguese rider began in a statement released by the Trackhouse team press service.
However, a crash by his teammate, Spaniard Raul Gonzalez, took them both out of the race.
Two weeks later, Miguel Oliveira will be hoping to regain lost points by taking the Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg, the track where he took his first MotoGP win in 2020, as his round.
“I’m looking forward to the Austrian Grand Prix as it’s on a track I really like. I won my first MotoGP race at the Red Bull Ring so I hope to start the weekend in the right direction,” said the Portuguese rider.
Oliveira comes into this round in 13th place in the championship with 51 points.
Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati) leads with 241 points, three more than Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) in second place.
