Personal assistant, two doctors named in Matthew Perry death probe

US authorities have made at least one arrest in their investigation into the death of Matthew Perry, the actor who gave birth to Chandler Bing in the sitcom Friends. It’s about the illegal administration of ketamine, a widely used drug, found in the actor’s system.

Computers, phones and other electronic equipment have been seized to determine who supplied Matthew Perry with the ketamine that caused him to pass out and drown in a hot tub in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. The actor’s personal assistant, two doctors and three others have been charged, according to The New York Times.

In official California court documents, which include New York Times had access, prosecutors allege that Perry’s assistant and an acquaintance worked with two doctors and a drug dealer to obtain thousands of dollars’ worth of ketamine for the actor. The suspects are charged with conspiracy to distribute ketamine; distribution of ketamine resulting in death; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; and altering and falsifying records related to a federal investigation.

Some of the participants used encrypted messaging apps and coded language to discuss drug deals, including referring to bottles of ketamine as “Dr. Pepper,” “cans” and “bots,” according to court documents.

Matthew Perry was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home on October 28, where he had drowned “in the heated part of the pool.” He was 54 and had been battling depression. The artist had other troubled moments in his life, including videos about drugs and alcohol.

Death Matthew Perry’s death was ruled an accident due to acute ketamine exposure, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. High levels of ketamine in Matthew Perry’s blood can have deadly consequences, such as overstimulation of the cardiovascular system and respiratory depression. The actor was treated for depression and anxiety, the report said.
