A fire that broke out at the Somerset House arts centre in London, next to the River Thames, on Saturday has been brought under control. 125 firefighters are working at the scene, supported by 20 vehicles, and the cause of the blaze is currently unknown, according to the department. London Fire Brigade.
As reported by France Presse (AFP), a fire broke out on the roof of a historic building located in central London, on the banks of the Thames.
The fire was confirmed by London Fire Brigade through its social media account “X” after a netizen posted a photo expressing “a bit of concern” about the amount of smoke coming out of the building, the company reported, Spanish news agency EFE.
Firefighters sent two 32-metre ladders to the scene to support the firefighting effort and said traffic in the area would be delayed while efforts to extinguish the blaze continued.
On its account on the social network “X”, the art center reported that it was closed to visitors while firefighters were intervening and that “all staff and visitors are safe.”
