The couple were arrested this Friday in Montijo, following a mega-operation by the Aveiro Judicial Police, carried out about a month ago in Oliveira do Bairro and Anadia, on suspicion of a wave of robberies in the region and the rape of an elderly woman. The couple, about 35 years old, were placed in pre-trial detention after being presented to a judge in a criminal case.
During the investigation, on July 16, the man was already arrested at home in Espairo, Anadia. The detainee, being interrogated at the first judicial interrogation, also learned that a preventive measure had been imposed.
A group suspected of several violent robberies. In one of the robberies, the detainees are also suspected of raping an elderly woman. The group allegedly stole the victim’s ATM card and used it to make several purchases. During these transactions, they asked for an invoice with the taxpayer identification number of former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho.
The first mega-operation was carried out in Espaíro, Anadia and Amoreira de Repolaão, in Oliveira do Bairro. At that time, the Judicial Police was supported by patrols from several PPR posts in the region.
