Spanish Civil Guards have seized a knife containing “biological remains” from an open field near the home of a man suspected of killing an 11-year-old boy in Mocejón, Toledo.
One of the police dogs involved in the investigation found biological evidence in the object, and Instituto Armado claims that “it could have been the murder weapon,” says E.l Confidential.
The same source specified that the object was found by a cleaner from the Mocejón city council, who then called the Civil Guard. The knife was in an open field near Dalí Street, not far from the house of the detainee’s father. Agents took the knife “because it could have been the weapon used in the murder that took place this Sunday,” a spokesman for the Instituto das Armas told the same newspaper. Authorities also reported another knife found in the same area, but investigators have downplayed the significance of this.
The first weapon discovered is now being analyzed in a laboratory.
The Civil Guard has a wealth of evidence to support the charge against Juan Francisco, 20, the only suspect in the murder of 11-year-old Mateo, who is on trial this Sunday.
