The homeless man who stabbed 68-year-old Manuel Luz to death in Carnide, Lisbon, was in preventive detention this Friday, the decision was taken at the Campus of Justice in Lisbon. The crime took place on August 11 and the killer was arrested on the 21st, after ten days on the run.
The investigation indicates that the victim and the killer met near Azinhaga das Freiras, where they quarreled. The killer transported the body in a wheelbarrow and left it about 500 meters from the original location. A bloody trail along this route helped find the victim.
The homeless man was known for collecting bones. At the door of the makeshift “home” — a space that could be called a bedroom, but there is no kitchen or bathroom — the suspect boasts a strange collection. Dozens of bones are scattered across a blanket, bones that he picks up on the street and meticulously washes until they are spotless white.
