Former US politician convicted of journalist’s murder faces 20 years to life in prison

Robert Telles, a former Democratic U.S. politician, was convicted Wednesday of murdering Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German. He faces a sentence of 20 years to life in prison, according to the report. AP.

The verdict was read in Clark County Circuit Court in the US state of Nevada. After three days of deliberation, 12 jurors voted unanimously that Telles was guilty. The lawyer said his client plans to appeal the decision.

The verdict is scheduled to be read on October 16.

Robert Telles, 47, was returned to prison, where he had been held without bail since his arrest in 2022.

According to the same source, Jeff German was killed after writing articles critical of Robert Telles’ behavior. The former politician ambushed and attacked the journalist in Jeff’s front yard.
