An EAV manned by suspected drug traffickers attempted to ram a pursuing navy boat off the coast of the Algarve. The attempted murder of the servicemen came in recent days as the navy and marine police, supported by the air force, took part in operations in international waters that led to the discovery, interception and detention of three suspected smugglers of an EAV carrying more than a hundred fuel tanks.

The speedboats were detected and subsequently pursued by a Navy vessel and two high-speed boats, one manned by Marines and the other by members of the Marine Tactical Action Team.
“During the pursuit, which was carried out at high speed, one of the suspected vessels, in order to avoid getting closer, attempted to ram one of the pursuing vessels from the side, endangering the lives of the Navy servicemen, as a result of which an accident was avoided at the last moment through evasive maneuvers,” the same sources describe.
Since the beginning of 2023, the Navy and Marine Police have already detained or identified 107 suspects and seized 41 high-speed vessels with more than 33 tons of narcotics.
