Paralympic triathlon postponed due to poor water quality in Seine

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games triathlon, scheduled for Sunday and in which Portugal’s Filipe Marques was due to compete, has been postponed until Monday due to water quality in the Seine River.

After a Saturday marked by light rain in Paris, organisers assured that the race planned for the Alexandre III bridge had not been compromised, with the announcement made early this morning.

Portugal will make its Paralympic triathlon debut at Paris 2024, where Filipe Marques will take part in the PTS5 event, which involves 20 kilometres of cycling, five kilometres of running and 750 metres of swimming.

The water quality of the River Seine, which also hosted the Olympic triathlon and open water events, was criticised during the competition, causing health problems for some athletes.
