A 44-year-old man was given an electronic bracelet after an alleged crime of domestic violence against his partner in the municipality of Bragança, the National Republican Guard (GNR) announced on Monday.
In a statement, the GNR said that on Thursday, soldiers from the Centre for Research and Support for Specific Victims (NIAVE) as part of an investigation “discovered that the suspect had used psychological violence against the victim, his 35-year-old son and ex-partner.”
The military then handed over an arrest warrant.
Since it was still a period of legal leave, the suspect was present at the first interrogation in court Macedo de Cavaleiros, as well as at the control with an electronic bracelet, a ban on approaching the victim’s home and work at a distance of less than 500 meters, as well as a ban on contacting her in any way.
GNR reminds us that domestic violence is a public crime and that it is everyone’s duty to report it. This can be done by phone, at security posts or online, through applications and pages created for this purpose.
