Castelo Branco’s “historical” socialist Joaquim Morao confirmed on Tuesday that the company he is a partner in has entered into a direct agreement with the Lisbon Chamber, but denied the contents of the statements he made in PJ made public.
“I confirm the public statements of Dr. Fernando Medina that a direct agreement has been signed between the Lisbon City Council and the company of which I am a partner, because it is true,” Joaquim Morao said in a note sent to the Luz Agency.
TVI/CNN Portugal reported on Monday that the current finance minister and former mayor of Lisbon, Fernando Medina, “should be charged with crimes of economic business and abuse of power, as a result of being accused of complicity in a case of violation of the rules awarding public contracts in the history of P. S. Joaquim Morão to manage public works in the Lisbon Chamber.
According to TVI, Fernando Medina was convicted, namely by Joaquim Morão, “for asking the latter to act like him in support of a fraud that gave the public procurement process a fictitious appearance of legitimacy.”
“I completely deny the statements made by TVI/CNN regarding the content of the statements I made to the judicial police,” he said.
The commander denied that he had indicated to Fernando Medina “any person or company to provide services to the municipality of Lisbon”.
“In the process, I will continue to find out all the facts, fully aware that I did not commit any illegal acts,” he concluded.
