Eleven mainland counties are under yellow warning until Wednesday due to cold weather.

According to information available this Monday on the website of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), eleven areas on the Portuguese mainland are under a yellow alert until Wednesday due to a cold weather forecast.

In the areas of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Portalegre on Sunday and until 09:00 on Wednesday, a yellow warning is due to the maintenance of low minimum temperatures.

According to IPMA, the yellow warning for Beja, Lisbon, Santarém and Evora begins at 00:00 Tuesday and ends at 09:00 Wednesday.

A yellow warning, the least severe, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather-dependent activities.

IPMA predicts cold weather with little cloud to clear skies for the continent this Monday, with periods of more cloud on the central coast and in the southern region until noon.

Light to moderate winds are also expected from the North Quadrant, from the East Quadrant in the northern and central regions through the late morning and late afternoon, with strong localities in the highlands.

The forecast also indicates the formation of ice or frost, especially in the interior of the North and Center, a sharp nighttime cooling and drop in temperature, especially in the interior of the North and Center.

The minimum temperatures will range from -4 degrees Celsius (in Braganca and Guarda) to 8 (in Lisbon and Faro), and the maximum – from 4 (in Guarda) to 18 (in Faro).
