Fertagus forecasts 25% off regular supply Tuesday and Thursday due to IP strike

The Fertagus rail service connecting Setúbal and Lisbon will experience “major unrest” on Tuesday and Thursday due to the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) strike, with only 25% of service being carried out, according to the shipping company.

In a note posted on its website, Fertagus, which operates this railway line passing through the April 25 bridge, after paying an IP subscription fee, explains that train restrictions will be registered between 00:00 and 24:00 on February 28 and 2 March.

The company adds that, having agreed on a minimum service of about 25%, it plans to fulfill only a quarter of the usual offer.

The carrier currently operates 14 stations covering about 54 kilometers and handles approximately 85,000 flights per day.

On February 14, the Union of Public Administration Workers (Sintap) and the National Union of Railway Workers (Sinafe) announced a strike at IP on Tuesday and Thursday.

This is, they say, about the “deadlock” in the negotiations on wages with the administration of the IP, since the proposals of the trade unions were not considered by the negotiating commission of the employer:. “

According to the unions, at the last meeting, the administration kept its proposal presented at the previous meeting, “without any development or approximation to the requirements.”

The workers will strike “for the provision of all work” on both days, “during the whole working time”.

The unions point out that the strike is motivated by higher wages and purchasing power, the resumption of collective bargaining, “non-discrimination against workers” and hiring.
