Azores judicial police arrested a 51-year-old man for raping his ex-partner, 40, in the house where he still lived with her. Their son was present on the day of the crime.
The sexual assault took place earlier this month, after several weeks in which the perpetrator and victim lived in the same house despite being separated. Although she never filed any claims against her former partner, the woman took the initiative to ask for a divorce at the end of last year, after 8 years of marriage during which she was subjected to physical and psychological abuse.
After a rape that occurred on one of the islands of the Central Azores, a 40-year-old woman filed a complaint with the PSP. By decision of the justice of the peace, the victim and her son were sent to an orphanage. The rapist stayed in the apartment. Now he is detained by the judicial police of the Azores and will await trial in pre-trial detention.
