In the message, the friend seems to say that “a well-managed crisis of this magnitude can propel you to the next grade and break you in terms of public perception” before advising Hancock to ask questions about how to do it.

“1. What should be your attitude towards this crisis? And how will you radiate these qualities?

“2. How can you show the prime minister that you are his highly qualified lieutenant, not ostentatious? What can you offer him? Take him in a cobra chair? What else to show him that you care about him, right?

On December 29, 2020, it is reported that Mr. Hancock’s special adviser Emma Dean has shared a YouGov poll listing the most popular conservative politicians. “Damn, that’s good,” Hancock replies.

Mr. Hancock also criticized Rishi Sunak’s flagship Eat Out To Help Out plan to save restaurants, calling it “food to spread the virus” in a message to Mr. Njok-Goodwin.

Telegraph received 100,000 WhatsApp messages between Mr. Hancock, other ministers and senior government officials sent during the pandemic from journalist Isabelle Oakeshott. The revelations sparked outrage among relatives and teachers.
