The councilor responsible for human and social rights in the Lisbon city council, Laurinda Alves, has resigned for health reasons and has been replaced by Sofia Ataide, the executive branch led by Carlos Moedas said today.
“Laurinda Alves steps down as health and medical advisor,” the municipality said in a statement.
In the note, Laurinda Alves, 60, elected by the New Times Coalition (PSD/CDS-PP/MPT/PPM/Aliança), claims to have given “everything she had and often what she did not have.” ”, in the areas of human rights, in support of the homeless, refugees and youth.

While she was in the executive of Carlos Moedas as an independent adviser, Laurinda Alves was in charge of human and social rights, citizenship, youth, health, relations with the municipality and led a project to implement and monitor the municipal plan for People who are homeless .

She has been a member of the Political Commission of the Municipality of Lisbon CDS since 2009, being Secretary of the Board of the National Council during the presidencies of António Pires de Lima and Telmo Correia.
The municipal executive has so far consisted of seven people elected by the Novos Tempos coalition (three from the SDP, two from the CDS-PP and two independents), who are the only ones to have roles assigned, seven from Mais Lisboa. coalition (five from PS, one from Livre and one independent), two from the PCP/PEV coalition (both from PCP) and one from BE.
With this change, the seven Novos Tempos elected by the coalition are now three from the SDP, three from the CDS-PP and one independent.
